Villa 50 - the Italian Pearl
Southern Italy is warm, with more than 300 days of sunshine every year.
The temperature in Basilicata and Calabria is not as extreme as in North Africa and Turkey. This is due to the mountains, which create a comfortable temperature the whole year. During the winter there are often days when the temperature is over 20 degrees C.
The high summer temperature is often cooled down in the middle of the day by a fresh breeze, but should the day be too hot, it only takes half an hour to get up into the mountains, where the temperature is 10 degrees lower than by the sea.
In the table below you can see the average monthly temperature for the Ionian Coast. The average water temperature is for Calabria.
